Far-right MK Ben-Gvir to gain direct control over Israel's border police as part of coalition deal

Israel's incoming national security minister, far-right MK Itamar Ben-Gvir of the Jewish Power party, will be given direct control over Israel's border police as part of a coalition deal between Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party and the Religious Zionism alliance.

The border police carries out operations in the occupied West Bank and is charged with dispersing Palestinian protests.
