This guy actually plays more gigs than probably anyone on the planet. He's not like those guys that have to have a band to play he just goes out there and does it alone or with anybody. No one out their is really doing as much that i know of and if you know of anyone out there that is let me know and posts some links. "J" is the man as far as i'm concerned. Ain't seen anybody doing what he is doing!

This video makes me feel like I’ve climbed some steep mountain and j was at the top as some sort of guitar sensei teaching me all of his wisdom

I like how he points out when you're getting started it's good to embrace what you do know that you can write with, before you advance to a point where you often plateau and get stuck in a rut. Absolutely true in my case, really good advice for beginners.

My girl got that same Jay Mascis signature Jazzmaster. The thing is so great, I am continuously shocked by the tone and playability of it considering it is a Squire. And of course it is sexy as hell. I don't know if there is a better guitar out there for that $300-$400 price range. I am so glad to see him rocking it when he is surrounded by a ton of other beautiful and probably vintage guitars.

So true about starting out playing and being able to make songs and riffs without getting into ruts and playing the same type of stuff over and over. I've been in the longest rut I blame Winter. Slowly starting to get inspired again. Sometimes it helps to just step away from your instrument for a bit so when you pick it up again it's fun and fresh!

Your Squire Jazzmaster is really a great Guitar, it really changed my opinion of Fender guitars (as in starts or tele's) Very good design and great looks too.

Yo i certainly hope whatever contract J signed with Fender (and squier, under them for their version of his model) was in J's favor. Everyone and their mother, including me, has his fucking signature Jazzmaster. and it's an amazing guitar to modify and make your own. I HOPE he's seeing some of that $$ he definitely deserves it. We all have one

I’d tone is so rad. It’s so gritty with fuzz but yet so clear, amazing !

I could listen to him talk about guitars for 5 hours

What J said about feeling the guitar is so true. There's nothing better in my opinion that great earplugs in while playing a fuzz at unlistenable levels. Sit right in front of the and feel that air moving

Dude should be a motivational speaker. Corporations would pay big money for him to speak to employees to work harder and up production.

dude I saw dino jr last year and let me just say that it was literally the loudest show of my fucking life. You could literally feel the amps & PA hitting you. I couldn't hear properly for 3 days but it was awesome.

You dont know how much i sweat J Mascis. Hes most of what i figure out on guitar. I loved the martin and me album when it came out cuz thats what i play acoustic. I cant do his solos thats my weak point but he rules thats all.

When I hear him talk he reminds me of some guy who's had a very bad experience with LSD and never recovered from it
