I do wish snow golems get an upgrade like giving different types of ice will affect their armor and health plus making their snowballs deal freezing damage

Always bring a crafting bench and materials for new tools (ie. stone and wood)

So, instead of using abundant coal to use as torches, you should go to a distant biome with snow and try to find a pumpkins in a different biome?

Makes sense.

So nice until the snow covers up diamonds and you miss them

Just dig up.
Requires one torch, a Pickaxe, and maybe a few blocks

I always make sure to bring a stack of logs with me whenever I mine. It is just tons of sticks and crafting tables in one slot, so I can make fresh iron picks without a full return to base.

Or just use full bright
Mark your base coords, always bring wood in a cave, food as well, and just stuff to keep yourself living still.

I did not know I could lead snow golems!

That said, I tend to bring them into more complex cave systems sometimes and set up a squad or two at junctions with many branches. They help keep mobs from ambushing me from dark tunnels while I explore another branch of the system. It’s especially handy if you get mobs coming in from multiple directions at once and you’re short on maneuvering room or cover early to mid game.

An interesting idea, but what what about lighting up the caves to see better and prevent enemy spawns along the way? Sounds like it will still take a lot of torches.
