NHS INTERVIEW TIP #1 – PREPARE YOUR ANSWER TO THE QUESTION, WHY DO YOU WANT TO WORK FOR THE NHS? 01:04
This interview question comes up during virtually all NHS job interviews. In your answer, it is important you demonstrate you have a passion for healthcare, that you want to deliver outstanding patient care, and that you want to continually seek ways to help the NHS improve the levels of service it offers.

HOW TO ANSWER THE INTERVIEW QUESTION WHY DO YOU WANT TO WORK FOR THE NHS? 01:38

NHS INTERVIEW TIP #2 – BE PREPARED FOR QUESTIONS THAT FOCUS ON YOUR ABILITY TO ‘DEAL WITH PATIENTS’. 02:26
During your NHS interview, there is a strong possibility you will have to answer some questions about how you would deal with patients in various scenarios. When answering these questions, it is important you always remember to say that you would:

(1.) follow your training and the NHS operational guidelines;
(2.) that you would remain calm and composed;
(3.) you would always provide first-class treatment and care.

For example, one of the interview questions might be, how would you deal with a difficult patient? Here’s how I would answer this common NHS interview question, HOW WOULD YOU DEAL WITH A DIFFICULT PATIENT? 03:14

NHS INTERVIEW TIP #3 - LEARN THE NHS VALUES! 03:55
One of the ways you can easily stand out from the competition is to quickly learn the NHS values. The NHS values are the things you will need to demonstrate in your daily work, and you will be assessed against these during your interview.

The NHS values are:
• Working together for patients.
• Respect and dignity.
• Commitment to quality of care.
• Compassion.
• Improving lives.
• Everyone counts.

NHS INTERVIEW TIP #4 – THINK ABOUT THE SKILLS NEEDED TO WORK IN THE NHS! 04:38
You may need to answer the common NHS interview question, what are the skills needed to work in the NHS?

Here’s a list of 7 essential skills required to work in the NHS to help you get started:

1. Caring for people – this is obviously one of the most important skills needed!
2. People skills – How you communicate and deal with people, whether patients or work colleagues, is vital in all NHS roles.
3. Knowledge of NHS values, systems and working practices.
4. Organising and planning – being able to manage your workload is an essential skill needed when working in the NHS.
5. Handling stress and pressure.
6. Taking responsibility for your ongoing professional development.
7. Working as part of a team - putting the needs of the NHS above everything else.

NHS INTERVIEW TIP #5 – PREPARE ANSWERS TO THE INTERVIEW QUESTIONS RELEVANT TO YOUR PARTICULAR NHS BAND ROLE. 06:07
There are many different band positions in the NHS – Band 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8A and B. The type of interview questions you will have to answer will very much depend on the band you have applied for. To help you, have a created an NHS full interview questions and answers tutorial which you can access by clicking the link at the top of this video. Alternatively, you can access all of my NHS band-specific interview training videos by checking out the links in the description below the video!

Easy way I found to remember the NHS core values is “WICCER”:

Working together
Improving lives
Compassion
Commitment to care
Everyone counts
Respect and dignity

Hope it helps someone who may struggle to memorise it all😬
