What I am noticing with the newer versions is that the background is getting darker to the point where it looks spacey. It feels like I'm very slowly ascending up through the atmosphere into space. We're very near to the point where we reach space with some default Ubuntu backgrounds.

I have been running 23.04 as a daily driver for about a week now since I built my new workstation and I am enjoying it. I have been able to get my work done and customize everything enough to be comfortable and haven't run into any bugs yet. I have been on Linux Mint for the past couple of years and would have just went with it and compiled the 6.2 kernel to work better with my new hardware but wanted to see what Gnome has been up to the last couple years. Gotta say it feels a lot more solid and stable overall.

Btw, I realize people hate snaps and prefer flatpaks but for me, at least over the past couple of days with 23.04, I haven't noticed any real difference between them for the apps I use.

Lobsters taste good! Just make sure that you don't overcook them. Quite easy to do that. If the only addition you make to the lobster is garlic, pepper and salt, they still taste extremely good!

I've got used to Fedora for a while now, but Ubuntu still holds a special place in my memories. Which upcoming release would you consider: Fedora 38 or Ubuntu 23.04?

IIRC the one thing which is missing from the installer is the ability to format as ZFS.

Whether or not something is recommended to be install from snap is based on how the maintainers of the projects wants to host their applications as snap apps or as PPAs. For firefox and other programs that are updated freqeuntly, their maintainers would likely opt for snap, since they want to see frequent automatic update for their programs on a static release. I just don't get all this "forcing snap on you" talk. The only application that came as a snap app by default is firefox, and Mozilla chose it maintain their browser that way, and for good purpose.

i haven't tested out 23.04 yet but my main issue with it was that 22.10 did not handle dark mode well.
if you did it through the settings app, it would not change the shell theme and legacy apps, just libadwaita apps, although quick center fixes this, it deliberately changes this back with the settings app if you so as open it. i don't know if it's an ubuntu issue or an nvidia issue, but it didn't happen on any other Gnome desktops like Pop!_OS, Fedora, e.t.c. it got annoying fast, only benefit was that it uses pipewire by default

Edit: I tested 23.04. I tried installing it on an Nvidia GPU, it would not work, thankfully Ubuntu has a legacy installer just incase but that's unfortunate that the INSTALLER doesn't work on an NVIDIA Gpu

I moved up from Kubunte 22.10, and noticed very little difference. The installer managed to fudge my Firefox profile, so I had to re-import bookmarks and start over. I don't like the new SDDM graphic, although login still works as it did before. The "community" SDDM profiles were buggy, so I went back to default.

I still don't understand the hate for snaps. As a developer I find snaps really convenient to write applications for and package. Similarly its ability to affect the system is very nice. Sure Canonical scary, but like, idrgaf. I think Flatpaqs are perfectly capable of existing along side Snaps, + competition is a good thing. But if nothing else I will say, think of the developers! Just my two cents. I mean if I had my way, clickable packages for PC linux would be godly.
