This Arduino Quick Guide lesson uses the basic 'Blink' sketch, but uses an external LED with a current limiting resistor instead of the internal LED attached to pin 13.
The main aims of this lesson are:
Learn about the I/O (input/output) on the Arduino
Learn how to wire up a circuit
Learn about LEDs and Resistors

Hey....how do we know that how much current is required?
