The Iliad audiobook by Homer
The Iliad is a short poem by Homer, written in the first century B.C.E. It tells the story of the Trojan War, which began when King Agamemnon of the Peloponnesians invaded Greece and destroyed the city of Troy. The story ends with Achilles' death and the fall of Troy, but before the events take place, the story begins again in the past. The events of the Trojan War are also prefigured in the poem and the Trojan War is also prefigured in the poem. The Odyssey also appears in the Odyssey of Homer, which is a translation of the Greek text of the Iliad. The Iliad is considered to be the oldest surviving work of Western literature. The Homeric Iliad was composed in the late first century B.C., and the early modern Vulgate (the standard accepted version) is written in Latin, a literary amalgam of Latin and Greek. In the Iliad, the gods and goddesses fight with each other and the heroes (and sometimes the gods themselves) as they try to win the favor of the gods. It was not only the gods of Greek mythology that were depicted in Homer's epic poem. The gods of the early Greek world were not described in terms familiar to us from Homer. And the Greek historian Plutarch says that the gods' appearance was depicted in the Greek epic poems of Homer and Hesiod.
