You never used a stock muffler system on a VW engine it restricts the quite a bit hard on the exhaust valves. You lose a lot of horsepower I don't forget that double .009 distributor. I always recommend a lightened flywheel it doesn't beat up the rear bearing on the case because the firing power of number the two rear cylinders
