Neither of my parents ever got to a maturity level where they would balance a check book.

My father made a lot better than the national average for decades. He would brag about how much he used to make and then literally cry about being broke. When I asked him what happened to the money he yelled at me.

My mother spent money on junk and turned our house into a hoarder house. If she knew that she was going to get some money she had it spent before it was even in her hands. She too would cry about being broke.

Yes they did teach me about money. They made me angry and I decided not to be like them. They taught me bad habits and yelled at me and discouraged me and tried to get money out of me before I completely broke contact with them. It has been and continues to be an up hill battle with my money but I'm doing better than they ever did and I will retire with enough to live on.

If I can win with money then anyone can.

Thank you Dave! For a little while I blamed my parents for not showing us how to use and save money. They filed bankruptcy when my two brothers and I were just about adults, it was a really bad situation. Everything I have learned about money I have learned the hard way since leaving home at 17, and unfortunately have made a lot of stupid tax for myself, but I am fixing it now because it is my fault. I'm giving your book Financial Peace to my brothers from Christmas in hopes that they will never know the level of stupid that I have. Thank you so much for what you do!!!
