Always kill Nere for the boots - one of the best boots in the game.

This may seem like the bad ending for Nere but it isnt. Nere died on his feet, of sound mind, making the choice he thought he should make without being controlled. This is more than most true souls are afforded.

I killed Nere in the Underdark and brought his head to the Shroom people. They made his head into a nice ornament that I keep in my camp :D

You just reminded me that in my drow cleric of Lolth playthrough, I managed to sway him away from the Absolute and hope to redeem himself in the Spider Queen's eyes. He said he'd try to get to (I forget the name of the council, but a drow council) to warn them of the threat the cult of the Absolute poses. Seeing how he's still tadpoled, he'll probably be called back by the brain, and if he's not, high pristesses of Lolth will probably catch him and he'll be turned into a drider... But despite being the POS that he is, I still somehow hope he makes it.

In one of my playthroughs I told Nere the plot of the absolute and about the tadpoles and he went back to Menzobarranzan, or at least didn't go to fight Balthazar cause I never saw his corpse shambling around

Cool depends on the point of view. For an evil dark urge it’s cool, sure

For a good Tav it’s a bigger mercy to kill Nere directly. Being Balthazar‘s zombie puppet is not so cool i think ^^

If you follow all the missions through for the evil side and I mean all, no killing bally boy, "rescue isobel" and reclaim nightsong he actually raises a lot of named characters later in the illithid collony under moonrise towers.

Balthazar is disgusting but SO detailed. The way his fingers shake is fkn eerie. I sincerely doubt there is a single other game with this much attention to detail

Honestly you should at least kill that one duergar for the crazy greatsword, and Nere for the boots. Nothing else really matters unless you plan on dealing with that heinous forge.

I did not even notice this. lol. I saved the dude, almost wiped multiple times and he still ends up dead in the end? Man this hurts lol

Right. One sec. I haven't left Grymforge yet so I'm going to go cast Animate Dead on Nere's corpse because honestly, you have the right idea here, Balthazar. Nere was an annoying, stuck-up gobshite. XD

I freed Nere as mistake than killed him after the mission told spaw and he was called me a kind soul or something and said we were done . And that was it about nere and said was peacemaker for the intruders

I convinced him to run from the cult and free the gnomes so he doesn’t show up as a zombie. Then I stole his boots lmao

lol I was speed running evil Durge chapters to take my time in chapter 3 because I blazed through it in my 1 playthrough and I still miss details like this.
