8 bit vs 10 bit Color: What's the Difference?

There are a lot of misconceptions for what higher bit depth images actually get you, so I thought I would explain it. More bits adds more information to the image so it's usually easier to process video and photos in post and avoiding banding.

The quality of this video is astounding. I cannot fucking understand how 99% of Youtube content creators with MILLIONS of subscribers don't use a 1080p 60fps camera. Even 720p 60fps is acceptable. 60fps is just beautiful!

After going from CRT to IPS I instantly saw that "banding" which was missing on CRT. Going from 85-120Hz to 60Hz was less jarring than those things.

Great video quality. I like the sharpness and color of this video. Could you tell me what camera and lens are you using? and the lighting condition of this video? Based on the reflection from your eyes, I guess you have two lights in from of you ?

There is a second caveat - you won't get 10-bit image with just 10-bit monitor - you will need a graphics card that supports 10-bit output too (quadro, firepro) or a capture/playback box that can handle this.
Otherwise you will be pushing 10-bit image through 8-bit card output to 10-bit monitor. This restriction affects only the monitoring signal and not the rendered file output.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.
