Oppenheimer - Only In Theaters 7 21 23

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an IMAX®-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.

The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Oscar® winner Matt Damon portrays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey, Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, a founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.

Academy Award® nominee Florence Pugh plays psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie plays theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano plays Robert Serber and Josh Hartnett plays pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.

Oppenheimer also stars Oscar® winner Rami Malek and reunites Nolan with eight-time Oscar® nominated actor, writer and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh.

The cast includes Dane DeHaan (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), Dylan Arnold (Halloween franchise), David Krumholtz (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises).

The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan.

Oppenheimer is filmed in a combination of IMAX® 65mm and 65mm large-format film photography including, for the first time ever, sections in IMAX® black and white analogue photography.

Nolan’s films, including Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, have earned more than $5 billion at the global box office and have been awarded 11 Oscars and 36 nominations, including two Best Picture nominations.

Cillian Murphy is a cinematic genius. They could just show his face for 3 hours and he will depict an entire saga of humanity with his expressions.

Not a Marvel, Superhero, Avatar sequel movie and the fact that this already has 30.8 mill views in less than a week. WOW, Christopher Nolan really is the brand itself

I think it’s very nice of Christopher Nolan to create a movie that will finally give Cillian the Oscar he’s always deserved…

Cillian is one of the greats of this generation. He looks utterly transformed, physically but also the mannerisms are so on-point. Even just the eyes...This is gonna be spectacular.

Finished watching the movie an hour ago. No words can express the anxiety I felt when the detonation scene played. The sheer silence and then the loud ass kaboom🥲 WOW!
Overall the movie was an emotional rollercoaster. Nobody could've made this movie more better than Chris Nolan.
I'm leaving this comment here just so my future self can come back and remember it all

“They won’t fear it until they understand it…and they won’t understand it until they’ve used it” this dialogue is killing me 🖤🖤

I love the fact he can make a film about Oppenheimer and he’s guaranteed a massive audience just because he’s Christopher Nolan . Legendary director

Anyone who is going to see this movie, this is one of the if not the best cinematic experience for some people. It's a clear 10/10. The music, the tension, the PTSD, the visuals, the goosebumps, and don't forget to pay attention.

Good to see the Shelby Company leveling up. They went from racing horse to producing nuclear bombs. Props to them.

Cillian has usually always been more of a side character to some of Nolan’s movies and now he’s finally the main character and it’s very well deserved for a actor like him. He’s going to kill it without a doubt

Cillian Murphy captured J. Robert Oppenheimer's thousands mile stare so perfectly. You can see it in his eyes, the "I've done the worst thing anyone can imagine, and I regret it!"-look.

This could turn out to be a must see for me, the entire premise is so chilling to the core. And especially when we know what those tests resulted in and how much it seemed to haunt Oppenheimer to his death.

This movie was exquisite. It really makes you feel yourself instead of Oppenheimer and feel his pain. 10/10

The fact that at one point in the film Murphy will say "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds" already gives me chills

It never fails to amaze me how Christopher Nolan, even without attending film school, manages to create such unique, outstanding, pieces of art and become one of the best directors of all time

Couple of things:

1. Murphy's eyes are almost like a character in themselves. They express so much, and Nolan made sure to emphasize them to convey magnitude.

2. I'm curious to see if the close ups of the atomic reaction will also act as a developing character as well, showing more and more of the reaction coming to fruition as the story develops, similar to the blood stain in Insomnia.

I haven't been to the cinema for 3 years and this movie was absolutely worth going back. Will probably rewatch it with some friends who haven't seen it yet aswell. Absolute masterpiece.
