Thank you for sharing your recipe. This is one of my favorite soups growing up. For Lunar New Year, my grandma used to make her soup in the gourd inside the whole pot. The soup was always flavorful and felt like a warm hug especially on a cold day. She spent many hours making sure this soup was cooked low and slow. Some traditional Chinese restaurants still serve it in the gourd, but it’s very expensive. The candied melon is good too, but too sweet if you eat too many.

My mom and I used to go to a Chinese bakery in East San Jose that had killer winter melon pastry cookies. We would get those and little egg tarts ! Supreme !!

The first time I had wintermelon was as a very sweet tea. I then had some wife cakes and wintermelon quickly became one of my favorite things to eat. I live in the US, it's not easy finding dishes that use it, so I had no clue it was mainly used in savory dishes! I want to try it in more ways

Hey bro Indian here. They are called सफेद पेठा or white pumpkin (I think it translates to pumpkin in english), they are used in many dishes and not just medicine for instance a very famous sweet dish known as आगरे का पेठा(Petha of Agra) which is both delicious and healthy.

Whenever I go out for hotpot I always look for winter melon. I love anything that just soaks up flavor like it does. But I had no idea you could eat it raw!
