You can honestly see how Alec's love for Magnus is above his own life. He would lose everything for Magnus. But inspite of all this, Alec doesn't believe that he is more important to Magnus than any other of his loves. And although this breakup has wrenched my soul, it will allow Alec to finally know what he is to Magnus. Their love, is more than them. It's beautiful, caring, trusting, selfless, sacrificial, and most importantly, immortal.

You know, this had to happen for Magnus and Alec both to realize that this relationship is more important to Magnus than all he has had before. Magnus has kept a memory of each person he has loved to be able to remember them, because he thinks that love never dies, but with Alec he can't do that, he can't save a memory in a box and move on. He can't live knowing that he has lost him, so the best solution is to lose all his memories of him. That's how Magnus makes us understand that Alec is the love of his life.

When Alec says "I'm not the first person he's loved and I won't be the last." that really hits me, because he is basically making sure that he isn't the last. The fact that Magnus has loved others before and that he'd live on after Alec died with that possibility (and likeliness) that he'd love others after him used to make him so insecure, but here he is literally saying that he is going to make sure he is not the last person he loves, because he loves him that much. He's finally come to the sort of realisation that although Magnus loves him (AND IT IS MORE THAN HE'S LOVED ANYONE!) he'll live on and meet new people. And he's finally okay with that, almost denying that it wouldn't be possible. And I don't believe Magnus could move on from this relationship, but it's kinda that "reality" thing. *Alec is basically saying that he'd make sure Magnus has the chance to have other relationships after him and it breaks my heart!*

It hurts that Alec thinks Magnus will forget him anyway. I am sure Magnus will realize he would lose his magic rather than lose Alec, and Alec hopefully will get to see that Magnus would rather erase all his memories because he knows he would never be able to recover from such love.
