Why is Water Blue? #shorts

I took a submarine tour in Hawaii. I carried a red bag. It was really cool to see it turn black as we passes 40 feet. I videotaped it turning back into red as we surfaced at the end of the tour.

We can make the oceans any color we want if enough chemicals and trash are dumped in them. Luminescent neon green would be pretty.

Well, with pools most of them have blue liners.

Same reason the sky is blue. White light from the sun (NOT yellow) scatters in the atmosphere bc of water vapor and nitrogen eats almost all the colors. Blue is the only color that can avoid getting gobbled up.
Carl Sagan once said he could be placed on any moon or planet in the solar system and he would know immediately where he was by the color of the sky.

Almost all the water that is not either in the ocean or someone's swimming pool looks completely black from the surface where I live. Some ponds look like actual black ink even during the day.

Blue is the wavelength that bends most easily... so yeah everything seems blue

This video is a very long way of saying that water, in fact, is blue. Just only very faintly, much like how soda-lime glass is very faintly green.

In Sweden most lakes are a redish brown colour

hydrogen and oxygen meanwhile are very slightly blue, only noticeable when liquified, though teh sky does get some of its colour from this.
