It's that same feeling as laying in bed at 2 am and realising that she was flirting with you 7 years ago.

That’s the sign of a very great, humble, kind man. A man of The People.

My buddy died recently. He asked me for money for food a few days before. All he said was, "I'm starving". This has me crying now.

Nate was a friend from high school. A sweet guy with a rough home life. After graduation, we lost touch for years. Later, I heard he was struggling with heroin addiction but was working to recover. Then one night, I ran into him at a bar. He looked good, like he was on the mend. We exchanged numbers and talked about grabbing a drink together sometime.

A few weeks later, I texted him, inviting him to meet up downtown. He agreed but asked if I could pick him up. It was pretty out of the way, so I said I couldn’t. Another few weeks passed, and I found out he’d died from an overdose.

I wouldn’t say it haunts me, but now and then, I wonder if things might have been different if I’d picked him up that night, maybe he just needed someone to talk to. Rest in peace, Nate.

Bourdain was a treasure. His civic mindedness and kind heart is sorely lacking in most folks today.

I still remember my Grandpa asking me to get him a bottle of Vodka. He was dying of lung cancer and wanted to feel joy one last time. My parents talked me out of it. He died a few weeks later.

I regret not giving it to him to this day.

I have had anxiety for my entire life. Alcohol was my savior until I got the help I needed. I understand what this man was dealing with COMPLETELY

Hindsight and regret can be torture.

My happy go lucky cousin called me outta the blue several years ago. I live in Japan, so we had rarely spoke for years. I was surprised, and happy all at the same time… he kept asking me how my family is going, and am I happy & do I make them happy. After the third time of him asking me that same question, I asked if everything is alright, does he need to talk about it. He said in a joking way “yeah, but there is always room for improvement, right?, but no I am fine, and happily married”. We ended the call soon after that on more lively conversation… never spoke to him again, he took his life two days later. He was newly remarried, with everything going for him. I have never forgiven myself for not following through with calling him back. Now I look for the smallest sign to see if there is any indication that the people I talk to are in fact screaming for help.

Geez I am now crying thinking about it. Love you Mike! You were the best friend anyone could have had. We all miss ya!

If that is the worst thing you ever did to the guy then you got nothing to worry about
