New prime minister Rishi Sunak had a busy first day in the job.

He faced Sir Keir Starmer for the first time in PMQs, changed the date of the fiscal statement, refused to call a general election, defended his appointment of Suella Braverman as home secretary and reinstated a ban on fracking.

Beth Rigby has the details.

Reconjuring Braverman says everything about what we can expect, nothing.

Hard to imagine that so many mps are so incompetent.

I hope his difficult decisions are, a windfall tax on energy companies, taxing the rich more, getting rid of Non-Dom status, clamping down on off-shore tax havens and evasion, changing funding formulas back to directing money to urban deprived areas, that was took away to fund very affluent Tory heartland areas. That'll be a start to a few difficult decisions for him. Any more suggestions about difficult decisions for Fishy Rishi are welcome...

reinstating Braverman says it all the Tories think they can just make up their own rules to suit themselves

Rishi Sunak is UK born British.
Rishi Sunak's mother was born in Tanzania, father was born in Kenya.
There is nothing Indian or Pakistani about him.
Rishi as Indian just as Obama is Kenyan.

As long as nobody has a better plan for the economy of Great Britain including the opposition, Sunak is the right man so far...Inspite of the political and economic headwinds, I appreciate the breathing space he's given to his Chancellor to come up with a better financial plan on 17 Nov...He in the near future will bring in investment by simply doing what he does best....this will help pump in money in the economy and increase social spending eventually...

Reappointing Braverman is wrong move in the first place.

Economic stability? Yeah but just denied the UK energy stability by denying fracking. We would rather import hydrocarbons and remain vulnerable to international energy markets than tap into our own energy resources. We are all being played.

Rishi Sunak is the prime minister that this country needs and deserves. He will fix our economy and do a great job.

Is there any value in PMQs? Opposition questions aren't answered, backbencher questions are platitudes, and we pay for all of the rest of them to shout and jeer at each other.

So did that mean that once again "Fracking", and shale gas exploration is banned? This Country is beyond Help their grasp on reality is barely noticeable, they do not deserve to be given any help.

I hate the vocabulary Stamer is using and the way he is constantly fighting. Wouldn’t it be nice if he could communicate more on a more respectful manner. We are supposed to listen to leaders that has intellectually challenged the needs of the people and come up with a solution that will help us achieve our goals and happiness.

Well at least Southampton fc can have an open top bus parade with their pm since he's one of their ardent fans.
