✅The Ultimate Home Building Checklist✅
www.BuilderBrigade .com/Social

Ugly studs are not something to be concerned about on a new home. You can utilize studs with bark and other imperfections as long as they don’t compromise the integrity of the wall or structural components.
If you see a stud and feel like it would crumble under pressure then feel free to mention it to your builder. Most cases an ugly stud will not cause any issues.

Those low quality studs being used is how you get bowed walls, they should not be used.

Replaced or your fired. The apprentice who framed this wall should be spoken to. Yes it could be used for mid span or thrashed

We use those planks for blocking...not studs.

Yea, don't use that for a wall. It's gonna bow.

no, you used cheap studs. use stud grade wood and you won't find that. that's gonna be a nightmare to screw to.

Just make them feel good and replace it. Some bark is ok but that one spot is pretty bad.

Replace it and save your reputation...

Replaced - regardless of integrity, make it look flawless. A reputation is on the line

I believe they should have placed it closer to the corner. It’s foreseeable that somebody may want to use that stud to mount something.

How bad does it have to be to effect structural integrity? Knots are often worse than weenied edges or other blems.

All the non builders in this comment section: That's not a load bearing wall.
Termites live underground.
Fire a contractor over a little wane in a non load bearing stud?
One guy below seemed to think you would see this from inside the room?
This channel seems to attract a bunch of folks that don't have the first clue about building.

I think we're all aware, wooden studs are made from trees, and that there's less wood on that stud. Don't use less wood for a stud, your house needs strong supports. Replace it or you're fired🔥

Normal sure doesn't mean it should be used.

That sir is trash. You want high quality studs that are as strait as possible. This will create problems when finishing drywall. Not to mention you need full straight studs when running electrical, plumbing. If it came from the store, return it and tell them you can't use it.
