When I stopped worrying about this, my squat depth and strength improved and my knee pain went away.

I always thought it just came down to it being bad form, or even bad for your knees. Nice to know better now.

Funny how there seems to be just more and more stuff relating to movement patterns which people have thought for years to be bad for no reason. Knees over toes, locking the joint, rounding the spine etc...

As a non bot, I never knew that about the knees. Regardless of any shifting, they maintained control of that weight.

If the lifter knows what the glute medeus does, they know the difference between pee pants knee valgus cave vs that minor rotation at the beginning of the concentric cuing the engagement of the glute medeus

Basically, as long as the feet stay stable and keep contact correctly, then it's no problem

I'm pretty sure the lifter at 0:29 just won a silver medal in the 2024 Olympics for her weight class.

People worried about knees caving should watch surf/snowboard videos. In these sports it's required to pronate the back foot, to internally rotate the tibia and to internally rotate the femur. Intrarotation of femur and tibia are essential to produce force rapidly. Obviously if your connective tissues give you pain you should start light and build up from there. It's strange that the fitness community doesn't see human movement and athletic movement is way less linear than a perfect symmetrical knees out squat.

If you want to squat maximum loads and you get a lot of knee cave its one of the times you should take it seriously though otherwise this mans pretty spot on

Knee cave is due to the body requiring more internal rotation than otherwise available. It’s a problem if basic movement involves knee cave like bodyweight squats.
