Teachers can work around that law: I read about the story of Mr and Mrs Craft, who resisted slavery and escaped because of the skills and “privileges” they were permitted to acquire while enslaved. She was a skilled seamstress who sewed her manly attire to disguise herself as a White gentleman. Mr Craft saved money as a talented craftsman and funded their harrowing travels north.
So, yes, it’s technically true that some enslaved people learned and earned $ during slavery and used that to their benefit. But ONLY if the Whites in power permitted it.
The Crafts used the skills they honed as enslaved people to free themselves and then speak out against slavery on the international stage and become famous like Frederick Douglass and Henry “Box” Brown.
Teach students “Master Slave Husband Wife” about the Crafts and other abolitionists.

In Florida’s west-central Hillsborough County schools, the teachers are already preparing to exclude SHAKESPEARE'S works, of all to pick, from their curriculum. Their claims:
“There’s some raunchiness in Shakespeare, because that’s what sold tickets during his time. I think the rest of the nation — no, the world, is laughing at us. Taking Shakespeare in its entirety out because the relationship between Romeo and Juliet is somehow exploiting minors is just absurd.”
Actually, the world is laughing at Florida - or rather, is aghast - for their "reasoning" of fulfilling the wishes of their wanna-be fascist dictator.
