In this video I go over how to set up the Sony a6600 (Useful for any Sony a6xxx series camera) along with the Sony 200-600mm lens and I explain how to set that combination up for the best results for your wildlife photography. I cover all the buttons and dials both on the lens and on the camera and I go over all the menu items of the camera. This video is a complete course for the set up of that camera/lens combo.
Thanks for watching and helping support what I do!

The best ever tutorial on this camera. Going through this tutorial made my understanding of all the settings deeper than superficial.

Thank you Mr. Don Mammoser for enabling me to take good wild life shots.

Great video. Having recently changed to Sony this video has been so helpful. The camera is very different to my Fuji and setting it up with all the different menu settings was getting a bit 🤯. Thank you taking the time to do this tutorial. 👍🏻

Thanks for taking the time to produce an excellent video. I might even try back button auto-focusing on the basis of this!

Thank you for sharing the info Don. Have you ever tried the 1.4x with this setup and if so how were the results?

I really enjoyed your wildlife photography video and I set up my Sony a6600 with your settings. You mentioned in the beginning the settings are going to be for “static” photos and that was entitled “Custom Hold #1”. Does that mean there are some settings that need to be changed when the action heats up, leading to a “Custom Hold #2”?

Hi I have been enjoying your videos! Most of the settings on your camera are similar to mine!!! A couple of things I noticed is that there are times that the camera will lock focus on a wing or a leg with birds in flight!!! So I typically will try to set my aperture at f8 to make sure that the head is in focus. Eye auto focus works very well on owls that are statuary for single shot shooting! It will not work in continuous shooting mood. I notice that you mentioned the frame rates as being 10 fps. From what I have read the frame rates are 11fps (H+), 8fps (Hi). Two things about that "H+" is that continuous auto focus stops working after the first shot, and metering is also locked to the first shot. Every shot that follows, focus is locked, and so is metering. If you use "HI" (8fps) it is all working normally!!! I encountered this with owls flying towards me in "H+". Metering was not a issue, unless the birds were flying through shadows and light!!!! I am a new subscriber!!! Keep the videos coming!!!

Sony need to develop a apsc model with bird eye tracking feature then we will be happy.

Without the 200 600 lens, is the sony a6600's autofocus fast enough for birds in flight or wildlife in difficult situations like a background with trees?

Im sick of my bulky DSLR's and am changing to a6600. My friend sold his Canon D7 and bought the Sony, he says he has never looked back.
