The movie is racist in every sense of the word. It was created through racist means, to tell a racist story that does not to challenge or make any meaningful commentary about that aforementioned racism.

Made through racist means: I read about how the filmmakers went into a Roma village in Romania and paid the villagers 3 Euros each, lying that they were shooting a documentary. Instead they humiliated and took advantage of already vulnerable people. Random animals were scattered in their houses, they were called rapists and their daily struggles reduced to jokes and lies that us in the privileged West openly mock.

Racist story: For all of you defending it as satire exposing American stupidity, it never actually accomplishes that, because there was never any revelation in the movie showing that Central Asians (Kazakhs etc) are actually not all the bad things the filmmakers portrayed. Nor does it show any humanity in Americans. This was just a movie made to put down already disempowered people, average Americans included.

Not every piece of media that is irreverent is actually smart or subversive. This movie isn’t “South Park” or “Rick and Morty”, it’s just utter trash with nothing new to say.

I am from Kazakhstan I like Borat jokes, however, would American society or other European countries would allow this type of film to be published if Borat would ”represent” any African country or they would ban the movie?

None of Baron Cohens' characters make fun of Jewish people but they make fun of Araps or Muslims: The Dictator, Ali G, Borat. His drama role in Netflix series "The Spy", he is playing an Israeli spy who's been seen as a hero in Israel. I find his films funny but he really isn't an objective man and there is an agenda in his films. So be careful watching his films.

I think it's just a funny way to make fun of westerners by describing Borat as a Kazak while actually using Romanian language, and thus describing the ignorance of the mainstream audience about eastern Europe and central Asia.

Im especially ashamed since bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova is presented as some kind of national "hero" for playing his daughter in the second movie. Every media here is presenting her like some big "success", simply cuz its an american film. Keep in mind in the first scene of her appearance shes laying in a stable with the animals, and she speaks bulgarian like its some kind of neanderthal language. Basically depicting the slavic woman as being equall to animals. I really tried to see the "satire" in this, but i guess my eyes are blind for "art" or something?
