Most animals that have a complex brain are already sentient, and have the ability to feel the things around them. What sets us humans, along with some other select few species (including, as far as we know, great apes, dolphins, elephants, crows and ravens, certain species of parrots, and octopuses and squids) apart from the rest is sapience, the ability to think and reason.

...this is a pretty fun video. But it's definitely not what would happen. Sentience doesn't equal intelligence. Self awareness doesn't mean you know how to read, write, or speak if youve never done that before. They'd basically be on the same behavioural level as human babies.

Where have you been the past few … decades?! Have you never had an animal interact with you in ANY way?! Never had a companion animal?! It’s been long proven, scientifically, that humans are not the only animals who are sentient. It’s now finally becoming recognised in law in a growing number of countries. Likely most, if not all (that possess a central nervous system and brain) animals ARE SENTIENT! Some maybe more so than others, but sentience/self awareness is there. 😣 It’s painful knowing there are STILL humans who do not realise this! 😣 We should not even need science to confirm this. Just … observe other animals for more than 5 seconds!

They are, im not an animal lover by any means, but when I watch those videos of predator eating its prey, you can see that there are thought patterns, techniques, fear, aggression. Very interesting...
