After the worldwide success of "You Sexy Thing" Hot Chocolate got busy putting together the next album. This time they recruited songwriter Russ Ballard who gave them "So You Win Again". The song was released in June of 1977 and peaked at #31 on the Hot100.
The band rebounded with "Every 1's A Winner" a #6 pop hit that peaked in 1979 was their last Top 40 single. Interesting fact, Hot Chocolate is a British Soul band that placed at least one hit single a year from 1970 to 1980. I have been working on getting all their hits remixes and today's upload is the last one.
They formed in 1968 with Errol Brown, Franklyn De Allie, Jim King, Patrick Olive and Tony Wilson and called themselves The Hot Chocolate Band. After recording "Give Peace A Chance" with a reggae beat, they sent the demo to Lennon for his approval on the lyric changes and happily signed them to release their song on Apple Records.
They had 60's super producer Mickie Most who recorded some of the biggest bands ever like Lulu, Donovan, The Animals, Herman's Hermits, Nashville Teens, Suzi Quatro and the Jeff Beck Group. He suggested they shorten the name to Hot Chocolate and the band took him up on his advice.
