I've had to come back to this post to give some feedback on the Sport lens after using it for 2 weeks. My initial thoughts and comments on the lens were only from what I saw in the video so I was very skeptical of the quality of the images.

HOWEVER...Having purchased the lens some 2 weeks ago Id like if I may give you an update.
This lens is bloody heavy for a start, but with weight comes the quality, and believe me this is a top notch piece of kit. The image quality has blown my mind and the detail it captures is first class.

There is one thing to remember though if you get this lens..YOU MUST CALIBRATE IT...!!!!
I cant stress this enough because when I first started using mine I noticed it was missing the target, but after I'd calibrated it using the sigma dock it was a completely different lens and so much better.

If your thinking about getting this lens then do not hesitate, it will blow you away..:-)

I got to try this lens out (contemporary) and fell in love with it... such a great lens for being out in the woods. Just wish I could afford my own now lol. Someday...

I just bought the contemporary and love it. I went birding this past Saturday and wow. It really is a game changer. The focus of this lens has really blown me away and I'm on a 5d Mrk IV and don't even know what I'm doing and still got great shots. Next day I took shots of my kids playing Tennis all with superb results - best Tennis shots I've ever gotten personally in my 3 years of doing it. Awesome lens for sports and birding.

I’ve had the Sport for 3 years now, I can’t stress enough the importance of the hub. It takes what is a good lens and makes it into a completely different bit of kit. The new drivers alone Make a massive difference, but with the fine tuning it really is amazing. I have absolutely no intention of upgrading from my Sigma at all, I've had some great images from it. I use the sport because I’m hard on my kit and I like the weather sealing and that extra bit of quality at the longer lengths, but I've seen some great images from the contemporary.

I currently own the contemporary version of the lens. Well within most amateur/begginer levels of the field.

I shoot with the contemporary, have owned it for almost two years. I used to shoot with a T5i and a 6D, it was okay. I recently purchased a Canon R6 and it made a huge difference. I would not however, ever set equipment of any kind in the sand. Great explanation of all functions and both lenses, thanks Roman!

I really think I will get the Contemporary version now as this ticks all my boxes and it not being as weather sealed doesn't bother me as I wipe out the rain covers anyway when it starts to rain. This is a serious contender for me as it will give me the flexibility and lightness when I want to shoot during the day, good to know the extenders work with it.
This would save me carrying around my Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II and my Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS lens plus the extenders I use from Canon so theres a lot of weight saving in that alone.

Great video Roman and my question is in your opinion is a Sigma 1x4 teleconverter useful on a nikon D5500 with the Sigma Contemporary lens seeing it is a cropped sensor camera
