FARMERS MARKET HAUL:
Well good morning from beautiful Napa Valley I’m here at one of my favorite places in the world, the St. Helena Farmers Market. Today I’m putting the old adage “What Grows Together, Goes Together” to the test. They say the wines that grow in particular foods pair best with those foods and so what better place to try that out than here in Napa Valley where we are just so lucky to have the best of all worlds from incredible wine to produce, agriculture, livestock. So today we’re gonna go on a little farmers market haul - I’m going to be finding some things to pair with two wines I found on Wine Access: a Sauvignon Blanc & a Cabernet Sauvignon, both here from Napa Valley. So follow me, we’re gonna explore the market, find some goods, I’m gonna take em home and then we’re gonna try to pair them with some delicious dishes.
I think the best place to start is gonna be with our proteins, so I’m gonna run down to the seafood stand to see if I can find something delicious to pair with that Sauvignon Blanc. Obviously with it being a white wine, we’re going to be looking for something a little lighter . Maybe like a shrimp or a white fish And then I really wanna do a nice salad with that. I always Sauvignon Blanc with a salad, it brings out some of those herbaceous flavors. These prawns are looking incredible so I think we’re gonna go that route over a salad. So I’m gonna grab these and look for some salad goodies to go underneath of it.
The St. Helena Montessori School does a full garden and they come to the farmers market and sell everything. I grabbed some produce from them - some corn, arugula, garlic, onions, shallots. For the red wine I grabbed some grass-fed beef from Long Meadow Ranch - I grabbed a flatiron and I saw some figs back at Be Here farm so we’ll do a little flatiron with a fig/red wine reduction
I always find some really great options at one of my favorite places Be Here Farms. - one of the only Demeter certified Biodynamic Farms in Napa Valley.

I just add salt, pepper and sometimes garlic powder in my steak
