I think “the real Mexico” is the life symbolically represented in the whole spectrum from Masaryk Avenue shops or Antea to a Tianguis or a churro cart on the street. We all identify, take comfort in, and live somewhere along this wide spectrum. Occasionally, of course, we indulge in the polar ends if it, thus reminding ourselves of the amazing diversity of options available to us, which are very similar to and in some cases better than, those in the US or any other place in the world. There is a little piece of heaven (and sometimes hell) for everyone in Mexico. One of the many things that is so cool about you guys is that you show the world a great deal of this life spectrum of life in the various cities you visit/live in. Oh, and clearly, no matter where one lives on this spectrum, we all have to deal with the inevitable five-minute-turned-half-hour Uber ride wait or other “ahorita” kind of situations common to everyone, anywhere in Mexico. Cheers!

The malls in Mexico are much nicer than in the States. Here in Southern California we have three luxury malls: South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island and the Beverly Center. All three were built in the 1960s. Antea looks amazing and City Market looks way fancier than Whole Foods or Sprouts. I think Antea has an English name because many of the customers are middle and upper class Mexicans that travel to Europe, U.S. and other countries and are used to it. I think I read that Antea LifeStyle Center is the 2nd biggest mall in all of Latin America. As for malls being on the decline in the United States, I think it’s because Americans are glued to their mobile devices and prefer to do their shopping online. Society in the United States is becoming less social compared to other countries like Mexico.

I bought my house in Las Trojes, Corregidora, Queretaro, is very close to El Pueblito but also to markets and some entertainment plazas.

I had to move with my wife 3 years ago to Raleigh NC because of work. We miss a lot Queretaro.
