Guia Lighthouse is one of Macau Historical Center that inscribed by UNESCO World Heritage list in 2005.
It was the first lighthouse built on the coast of China in 1865.
The lighthouse is 13.5 meters high, three floors tower with a diameter of 7 meters and its light could be seen from 16 miles away in clear weather.
Originally, it was lit by paraffin; it was electrified in 1910-1911.
The lighthouse was also used as a waring and observation post, having been provided with a bell which was rung whenever a sail was sighted, or a typhoon was expected.
The lighthouse was destroyed once by a typhoon in 1874. Renovation took place and it was back in service in 1910.
