This N Scale locomotive switcher has LokSound DCC with sound installed at the factory. It sounds good and it's made with a die cast chassis and body, so it should be able to handle all your yard work!

A friend of mine has some of those from an earlier release. They are very nice locomotives. I like the Southern Pacific ones in this batch

I picked up an undecorated version when these were first released for a WP version. If I remember, because mine was the undec. one, it came with all kinds of extra goodies.

I believe all the "Silver" (DCC-ready) units have already arrived and been sold out, for about a year. It's my understanding that they were having issues getting enough DCC decoders, so they released the DCC-ready ones when they arrived, but held the DCC-equipped ones until they got enough decoders, almost an entire year later.

Hey John she's for sure a stout little fart i got the Southern Pacific Atlas & mine can pull all 6 of my Athearn Auto Max's & 2 additional Autoracks there's some weight there & my Engine pulled them with no Wheel Spin that's big from such a small Engine..

The Engine isn't going to Win any Marathons but for yard pulls maybe with an additional swither it can be a force in any yard.. Great Video by the way.. Allen D

The only thing I noticed with mine is that the new Loksound 5 decoders don’t have user selectable horns/bells. With the S2 you could adjust CV48 to select the sounds. Unless I’m missing something, it seems with the new decoders you would need a LokProgramer to make these changes. A reasonable compromise given these are at a lower price point than the S2s were.

I have an opportunity to purchase one of these and i am very tempted. I don't have a switching yard, just an oval for now with a storage track. In reality are these locomotives only used in the yard for switching cars or do they actually haul loads?
