During warm periods in Earth's history known as inter-glacials, glaciers the size of continents receded, exposing new landscapes. H.E. were obviously quite an amazing species. Given their tendency to wander to new lands, you'd have to think we'll eventually find more of their fossils in other parts of the world - especially given the major climatic changes that altered sea levels.
