So, my mother in law (horrible woman), made some incredible green beans. Basically literally this recipe, except drain the water from the can and fry in a pan. I didn't tell her they were good, but I do cook them like that now, smh.

I like to add dried minced onion and a tsp of sugar. l personally like to cook em down and reduce the juice to almost gone over about 2-3 hours
