How a Bunker Buster Bomb Works?

preview_player
Показать описание
There are different Bunker Buster bombs of different caliber but what set's it apart from the rest is this G B U 57 which is typically delivered by the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber.

Due to the bomb's large size and weight, the aircraft can carry only two of these weapons in its bomb bay compartments.

While it lacks thrusters, the weapon is equipped with four active lattice fins and a precision guidance system that enables it to glide accurately to its target using military-grade GPS.

Constructed from a specially designed high-performance steel alloy, using it's weight when falling under gravity to penetrate or dig itself up to 200 feet of underground soil or concrete.

This is equivalent to a 20-story building before detonating, triggered by two advanced re engineered fuses causing a Mini Earthquake inside these bunkers.

The MOP can’t penetrate 200 ft of reinforced concrete. It can penetrate 200 ft of earth.

How many times do you want to say "the mob penetrates 200ft"
AiTelly: "YES"

Thank you for taking my advice and not putting bunch of old clips together to make the video lengthy. Keep up the good work and we will keep supporting!

1:38 200 ft of soil or 200ft of reinforced concrete? Previous 2 devices were to penetrate 5 and 20ft respectively. I highly doubt this mop can penetrate 200ft of continued reinforced concrete. It is just physically impossible. Even 200ft of regular soil seems to be a stretch. Maybe some soft soil.

200ft of concrete is hard to believe, there should be some test proof

Finally, someone to shed some light on these types of bombs because they all fascinate me. Nice animations ❤

The MOP is actually a tandem warkead device. The front of it uses kinetic energy to penetrate to about 80 feet (or until it decellerates to anout 30% of the maximum velocity) then it triggers a shape charge penetrator that drills a pilot hole for the next 60 feet or so. When the device stops or detects a sudden chsnge of resistance it sets off its main charge.

in WWII, German U-boat pens had at least 2, sometimes 3, 8 - 10 foot thick reinforced concrete roofs with a 12 foot gap between them. The largest bombs dropped by the British would detonate on the 1st & perhaps damage the 2nd, leaving the 3rd undamaged.
