Originally covered by Pet Shop Boys in a TV tribute to Elvis Presley, this re-recorded version became the Christmas No. 1 in the UK in 1987 and spent four weeks atop the Single Chart.

This track is included in SMASH - The Singles 1985 - 2020. The complete collection of Pet Shop Boys singles in chronological order. “SMASH" will be released on Parlophone on June 16th in a variety of formats including 3CD box set, 6LP vinyl box set and digitally, as well as two special limited edition formats available exclusively via the Pet Shop Boys store – 6LP white vinyl box set and 3-cassette box set. A 3CD/2Blu-ray edition will also be released which includes the complete video collection of the singles plus extras.

It was Christmas 1987...at a high school friend's birthday party we were all having a great time and as this song started blaring over the radio, "this is the best song ever" remarked one of my friends. Since then that moment and this song has been etched into my memories forever.
