Matthew Roderick, the founder of ground-breaking energy data company, n3rgy, speaks to Tom Woolley for the first ever episode of Energy Matters.

Together with host Tom, Matt discusses the essential role that energy data plays in global efforts to decarbonise. A role which has only recently been made possible through the ongoing digitalisation of energy systems worldwide due to new smart metering technologies.

They explore how improved accessibility to energy data (which can tell us exactly how much, where, and when we consume energy) is today empowering consumers and businesses to not only lower their costs and carbon emissions, but also enable profitability, productivity and innovation across new markets outside of traditional utilities.

I’ve been searching for a podcast where the discussion focuses on how technology can help consumers reduce their electricity bills.
I really enjoyed this episode. I wonder if the way to drive innovation is to mandate that all suppliers offer variable tariffs with half hourly pricing. I’ve been struggling for a few months now to get my current supplier (Octopus) to move me onto their Go tariff. I see there are a few other suppliers I could switch to but if your read the fine print they won’t switch you directly on to a cheap off peak tariff you first have to move onto the standard variable tariff.
Looking forward to the next episode.

Trees grow trees burn that is sustainable. Heats my kids heats my home. Cooks my food. Do not pay any one for this. Only electric for lights, plus money for internet.
