This is the video of WWLTV news story about the torch lady appearing in the Columbia Pictures logo

This torch lady has red-brown hair. She is wearing white Roman toga, the blue scarf around her, she held the torch on her right arm she stood on the dais, the brown steps and she stood in front of the backdrop of the yellow clouds.

Jenny Joseph was modelling the torch lady on her lunch break. Michael Deas painted the logo and designed the logo.

In 1993, Columbia pictures logo has the animation in the painting style and in 2006 and other years after 2006 Columbia pictures logo made the enhanced version with the same animation with the camera and a torch. In 2014 the logo has the transition of Sony logo. At the end of the Sony logo the O zoomed the camera closely and after the O has been zoomed, the clouds are moving away when the light is shining. Sony Columbia pictures logo has the same animation after the Sony logo since 2014.

In the original logo, Columbia pictures has the byline “a Sony Pictures Entertainment company” in 2006 till 2013 the same byline as the original logo and in 2014, Columbia pictures logo changed the byline to “a Sony company”

That is the logo of Columbia pictures from 1993 to the enhanced 2006 and the Sony logo in many new years after 2014.

Enjoy!

Sure wish that Jenny’d pose again for Columbia Pictures’ 100th anniversary logo in 2024, and that Michael would paint a new portrait for the logo, too.

Love how, at the 2:21 mark, Deas and Joseph go into the museum and see Deas' painting of the Columbia logo we know that studio for today, as if to say, "Look what we made together all those years ago-- we never knew it would endure."

The logo conjures up so much feeling in me: reverence for humanity and womanhood; love of liberty, independence, and beauty.

I hope the people from Columbia didn't convince Michael that due to the patriotic nature of this work, it would be so utterly utterly to even mention being paid for the opportunity to prove your
red white and blue artistic soul.
You know, the same way they refuse to take money for their
movies. Someone please tell me that he was either given money, or shown Columbia's
gigantic appreciation for this
fantastic work that will make them many millions for decades!

So, Mr. Deas and Ms. Joseph were the ones behind the Lady holding her torch...

If they put that painting up for auction, I would buy it. Or Sony.

I wonder if she has anything to say regarding Columbia Pictures’ centennial celebration…

I always assumed the logo was way older than '92. Didn't they use it in Ghostbusters or am I remembering it wrong?
Anyway, such a lovely story, phenomenal art work and 20 years after she originally posed, Jenny still looked as beautiful as ever.
