Don't stop...

An urgent phone call comes in to the bullet train general control center.
The caller says that a bomb has been planted on the Hayabusa No. 60 bullet train heading toward Tokyo, and that it will explode as soon as its speed goes below 100 kilometers per hour.
The criminal demands 100 billion yen in exchange for deactivating the bomb, forcing the railway workers into a desperate race against time as they struggle to prevent an explosion. Will the Hayabusa No. 60 be able to avert this disaster as it hurtles down the tracks?

This film is a reboot of the 1975 movie "The Bullet Train." Director Shinji Higuchi, known for merging spectacular visuals with human drama in works like "Shin Godzilla," is a huge fan of the original film, and has boldly reconstructed the story for modern times. This film stars Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, reuniting with director Higuchi after "Doomsday: The Sinking of Japan." Kusanagi gives a brilliant performance as train conductor Takaichi, who tries to prevent the bomb from going off on the Hayabusa No. 60. With special cooperation from the East Japan Railway Company, the production used real bullet trains and railway facilities to craft extremely realistic visuals, which were seamlessly enhanced with cutting-edge visual effects. Packed with non-stop suspense, this high-stakes thriller will keep audiences breathless from start to finish.

The Netflix Film "Bullet Train Explosion" starts streaming worldwide Wednesday, 23 April, 2025, only on Netflix.

For everyone who dont know. The original movie was "The Bullet Train" released in 1975 in Japan and later in other continents. "Speed" was inspired from that film. This film is a sequel to the orginal bullet train movie. You would get many references and story getting used from that film. I just watched it and man it was awesome.

This is such a uniquely Japanese movie. I love how the train staffs are portrayed as professional service workers trying their best to do their job. There are no heroics in this movie, just ordinary people stepping forward to help when they are able to. The entire support staffs and train systems in the movie coming together to try to solve a major problem. We need more of this sort of movie and storytelling as opposed to action hero or super hero films.

One of my fav movies. So many emotions in the movie, no silence to make you bored, every minute is exciting, and everything happens for a reason.

Today I watched this film for the first time. It was an exceptionally good movie. Many scenes touched me deeply.
P.S. The film clearly shows how advanced the Japanese are in technology and work ethic.

Shin Godzilla and Shin Ultraman were amazing, can't wait to see what Higuchi-san has in store for us this time!

The greatness of this movie is not about the visuals or the story, but is the fact that JR East Japan actually fully committed to suppoting the production company and was willing to run a REAL, special train, 7 round trips from Tokyo (Ueno) to Shin-Aomori for the filming, ask some of its staff to appear in some scenes, and even to provide special guidance and training to the actors to make the details of railway operation in the movie look as realistic as possible. This is a breakthrough for Japanese corporate culture -- in which companies have strong propensity to avoid anything negative (like terrorist attacks) associated to the corporate image (actually this was the reason why the first original made in 1975 did not receive any endorsement from the then Japan National Railway). So far the movie is receiving good feedbacks from the Japanese audience, and it seems to be a triumph for this JR East Japan's bold PR move -- A sign that Japanese society is opening up and to move away from conservatism, and this is sth to be celebrated.

Absolute cinema 🙌. The plot is okay but as train nerds, the angles that they took of the Shinkansen was absolutely beautiful!

What I love most about it and what makes it truly interesting is its uniqueness. Unlike American movies that often repeat the same stories, Japanese shows and films are consistently creative, thrilling, and exciting. It’s absolutely worth watching.

I just finished watching this and I’m so amazed and also I remembered hopping on and off the JR trains and stations in Japan when my wife and I visited Japan just this January. I would really recommend watching this movie. ❤

At first I thought this is just Speed but in Japan, but then I realised that this is actually a remake of the 1975 movie which inspired Speed

I just watched this and my goodness...THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A MOVIE JAPAN.

I don't watch a lot of Japanese LA movies because they just don't look good most of the times but this, this is good. And they went all out. The production is expensive!

The original Bullet Train Explosion(1975) inspired Burning train, Speed, and other movies with the similar themes😤
I’m glad they made a remake of that legendary movie ☺️

I love the fact they used the Tomy Plarail replicas to puppeteer this movie. It's so action packed and dramatic, I'd like to think how much emotion and politically accurate the film desires to have. This comes after the format in which I'd been watching the Bullet Train film from 2022, and this here is such a unique Japanese movie. Also, the explosives I can really see are much far grander than watching a typical American movie directed by for example Michael Bay.
The explosions are very clean and crisp in colour with a lot of well-balanced vibrancy to simulate the two trains bash into each other. Most importantly, the protagonists are not very much like other protagonists from another film or something, albeit anime like or whatever.
