As the holiday season approaches, we are excited to share that we have a new PS5 model launching. To address the evolving needs of players, our engineering and design teams collaborated on a new form factor that provides greater choice and flexibility. The same technology features that make PS5 the best to play are packed into a smaller form factor, along with an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and a 1TB SSD for more internal storage.

The new PS5 has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and weight by 18% and 24% compared to the previous models. There are four separate cover panels, with the top portion in a glossy look, while the bottom remains in matte. If you purchase the PS5 Digital Edition, you can add the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 later, as it will also be sold separately for 79.99 USD | 119.99 EURO | 99.99 GBP | 11,980 JPY.

It is a digital only console.
With Detatchable Disc Drive.

You can buy it pre assembled for cheaper.
Or buy the standalone model and install it yourself for 80$

Think of Xbox 360 days.
One came with a hard drive.
One did not. (But you could install it yourself.)

One of the main draws of a slim version is it being cheaper than the original. For reference, the PS4 slim was $100 cheaper than the PS4. The new digital only PS5 actually costs $150 more than the current digital only PS5. The new disc PS5 costs as much as the original PS5... PlayStation...For the Payers....

I got a ps5 the day they started the “upgrade to ps5 get a free game” promotion. Never got my free game. Spent hours on chat with support. Few of those people I chatted with told me the promotion I was inquiring about was not real. Even after I provided a screen shot of the promotional email from psn they told me it was fake and not a real deal. Now here we are 3 or 4 weeks later and everyone knows about the promotion. Am I butt hurt that I did not get my free game and lost 10+ hours to costumer support with no resolution? Yes. Am I glad to have an original PS5. Also yes.

I was gonna trade my Series X on a PS5 now with all the nonsense Sony is pulling I'm seriously going to just keep my Xbox. It's just not worth it to me to buy into the hassle. Now all we'll hear is "next year PS5 Pro". I wouldn't waste the money Jimmy keep it and buy more games! Great video.
