It takes a very unique and patient person to handle the responsibility of dealing with special needs students. My hat goes off to those people. May this never happen again.

This is horrible children with special needs need to be monitored all the time in situations like that I wish the little dude didn't have to be hurt so bad to lose his life!

Life is precious. Rest in Heaven, Little Angel. People who think the settlement is too much do not have children.

This is straight up Wicked. They know he's special needs and has a special adaptive stroller yet they remove him from it and puts him in danger causing him to lose his life. Accountability must be paramount.

That is horrific. This is definitely the school districts fault for having outdated equipment and standards for special needs/physical disability equipment. I feel terrible for the family, God bless them.

That's absolutely awful. While I was a teacher, I sadly saw things in the SpEd Department that weren't "illegal", but definitely unethical when it comes to students in that program. Neurodivergent children are so vulnerable, especially when they aren't supervised, and this type of negligence should be punished. People & institutions should be held accountable.

I hope alot of principles out there see this story and pay attention. This issue is an administrative issue, but it's also an issue of teacher shortages. They can't pay specialists to care for these kids, so they outsource it to whomever can pass an online course. Our schools across the country are hurting, and it's because government funding has become such a rat race, that students have turned into test scores to justify funding. It's all a horrific mess. But, what do you expect when politicians want to gouge poor folks and not tax the rich. Stagnant wealth isn't going to help anyone, when we're straddling societal collapse.

Any historian, sociologist, or anthropologist will tell you that public education is one of the cornerstones of a progressing, prosperous healthy society. Period.

So many people have horrible things happen and don't receive any recognition or compensation. This is truly awful- but it should NOT be monitized! My sister is 50 and has the mental capacity of a 5 year old. I was hit by 2 illegal immigrants in a stolen car with a 30 pack of beer going 120mph- why do they get millions? And others get nothing?

Kids hit their heads all the time falling over in chairs. This accident he happen to pass away. They said he was rushed off to the hospital after it happened. But hey let's give them 18 mil and take away from all the other kids because of an accident.. no matter what you do or come up with to try and prevent this cant stop it. Why its called an accident. If the teacher ran over and shoved the kid over then It'd be a different story. But now 100s of thousands kids have to suffer with less funding in their schools. Over an accident that couldn't of been prevented.
