This is hardly a debate, only one of the participants is voting 'leave'

That's not a debate; who picked the totally one sided audience the BBC?

This is so fascinating. As an american I have always admired the strength, intelligence, and storied British history. Im hearing in this debate that a country that produced the largest global empire known to man, feels that it can't negotiate a trade agreement.

Well done LSE in a country where 50% of the population would like to leave the EU you have manage to find a audience where about 95% of the people want to remain.

So most of the people on this debate are in europe whatever, and will take whatever and would like the EU to have full power over the UK, a very fair debate this was then NOT!

What kind of debate is this where you have only one person on one side debating against all the rest plus the supposedly neutral moderator. Debates are supposedly be balanced with both sides more or less equal. We have heard only one voice arguing against the EU and everyone else arguing for it. It is a joke!!!

"There are some in this country who fear that in going into Europe we shall in some way
sacrifice independence and sovereignty. These fears, I need hardly say, are completely
unjustified."

Prime Minister Edward Heath, television broadcast on Britain's entry into the Common
Market, January 1973

We are not in the EU as the queen that signed the country into the common market was disqualified accorrding to the Act of Settlemnt 1701 s 1 & 2 . She & any british monarch is forbidden from reconciling to the Church of Rome, she was reconciled with the Pope in 1962 when she met Pope John at the Vatican. The Act forbids her from passing any laws and from collecting taxes etc.

"Europe’s nations should be guided towards the super-state without their people
understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps each
disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation."

Conservative politician and author, Adrian Hilton, in "The Principality and Power of
Europe", published in 1997.

The girl arguing 70 years of peace. I see that as an implied threat of war if we leave.

Now,  just as when this came out we are told that if we were to leave the E.U. it would be a disaster. Business will suffer, up to 3 million jobs will be affected and we will not be safe against the global terrorist threat without the protection of being a part of the E.U. NONSENSE. Most of our business is done with Countries outside of the E.U. the business's that will be affected are those that employ the mass influx of cheap labour from Eastern Europe (thus helping to keep wages low) "if we raise wages we have to increase prices" they say, if people are earning more they won't worry about paying more (provided the companies actually pay tax here which most don't so there's something to address). If we also addressed the benefits culture that we have weaned from birth and adopted a system of no work no money just food stamps I guarantee people would work. If 1 million people from Poland can not only get a job here but build a life and raise a family (and I have the greatest respect for them doing that in a different land) and around 1 million illegals can do the same we don't need to have 2.5 million on the dole. As for 3 million jobs being affected well £55 million per day in our budget could pay for creating jobs, terrorists well most are home grown but with the mass influx Europe is now receiving you only need 1 bad apple and you can't check them all with the rate they are coming in and let's face it we don't even check people that are leaving. One final point if we will be doomed to failure if we leave as we are a small nation why is the E.U. and the global economy crapping itself about our departure?.

The question basically boils down to this: Do you see yourself as a citizen of Europe or do you see yourself as a citizen of you're country?

As Christopher Hitchens once eloquently stated: 'The essence of the independent mind lies not in what it thinks, but in how it thinks'.

This isn't a debate ~ this is a room full of people questioning ONE UKIP representative !! Get someone like Professor Patrick Minford in if you are serious about a proper debate !

What an incredibly one sided debate. Usually a debate has an even amount of players on each side.
The EU is not the reason we have not had a war within the zone for 70 years. NATO is the reason.
There is absolutely zero evidence that we will not be able to strike deals with anyone else in the World.
There is however huge evidence that we will have greater power to do so Globally.
The facts are
UK sell far more than they buy.
The EU export figures are rapidly declining compared to exports to the rest of the Worlds economies.
Within 20 years we will want to leave the sinking ship.
When there is more debt than actual currency in the system there is inevitable failure ahead.
Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain and Cyprus will soon be joined by many more nations and the UK will pay for their incredibly bad money management over and over again.
The EU is part of the NWO plan and is run by people we do not elect or even know anything about.

So much confusion with Europe and the political EU. So many brains under construction!

Nothing can be sensibly reformed within the political EU. The biggest recent example is where Cameron tried and hopelessly failed.

There is an incorrect assumption constantly repeated (and repeated here) that parliamnet is sovereign. IT IS NOT... the people are sovereign as is our constitution which nobody in this room seems to recognise. Britain is a constitutional monarchy, which means we have a constitution and our monarch is the head of state. Parliament is sovereign only in the sense that it has the responsibility to make legislation (Acts of Parliament) but it DOES NOT have the right to meddle with our consitution.
