There is a great documentary about the vaguita. They tried capturing a breeding pair to try and bring their numbers up but when they "rangled" one into a makeshifit containment area within the ocean it died withing a few minutes due to stress, so they decided that it would be impossible help in breeding them. There's also a lot of poaching going on in their habitat area making it even worse.

What about the spade toothed beaked whale? They were thought to be extinct for so long, and then two dead ones washed up in 2010, and those are the only none fossilized specimens we have.

Never would say that oceanic mamals aren't endangered or anything, but i highly doubt that there's a specie with only 20 specimens, for sure there are more, but we don't see them, but anyway we have to protect them
