Hospitals to transfer patients to long-term care homes

It's a stunning move given how dire the situation had been in long-term care homes until very recently. As Tina Yazdani reports, overloaded hospitals will soon begin transferring patients to the thousands of available beds in care facilities.

Long term care should be public. You got a hint of how badly private companies treat the elderly in these places. Both Trudeau and Ford have been a disgrace when it comes to Long Term Care. Remember, it was the military report that sounded the alarm. Imagine how bad things were to freak out the military.

Boy I am so happy that I got my parent at home 🏡 and all the work that it is I know that they will be safe. My heart goes out to all of the less fortunate, who have to live there and be at the mercy of these homes. A lot of these homes have had their patients locked down in their rooms, and isolated from families and loved ones for a year
So now you would like to move sick people from the hospital with them. I believe that the people in power should get somebody to give them a reality check, that's just assinine on their behalf.

This is an utter disgrace considering most seniors are currently not even allowed to venture outdoors despite all residents, care givers and workers having vaccination. Now we are treating them as outpatient facilities?

It is normal for hospitalized patients who are deemed ALC to go back home/to LTC. There has always been quality of care issues this is not due to covid.

You need to put all covid patients in one LTC home. You do not mix LTC residents with those with covid..

Canada has the lowest number of Hospitals, Doctors, Nurses and
Infrastructure. Our Healthcare maybe FREE but we can't find a Good
Doctor or a Hospital Bed for Care. Our Aboriginal and Indigenous people
LIVE LIKE A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY INSIDE CANADA. Our Long term care and
retirement housing industry has so much mental and physical abuse that
people NEVER see or want to see. CANADA NEEDS TO OPEN UP THEIR EYES AND
THINK ABOUT ALL THE CANADIANS AROUND CANADA. People in other countries
think Canada is so Kind and Great because we have so much. Just because
our goverement lives to help others and leaves up be hide. WE NEED TO
