Hello friends! In this weeks reading vlog i'm doing a reading challenge where I try to read for an hour every day! Hopefully this will make me able to read more and make more progress in the books i'm loving right now!

Hi! My name is Leonie and I am a 23 year old girl who loves talking about books! From YA to non-fiction to classics, I read it all (although fantasy will always be my fave). I live in the Netherlands and go to university, but make booktube videos in my spare time :)

Leonie: "I'm gonna read a book while I have my breakfast instead of watching youtube."

Me: *Eating breakfast and watching this video instead of reading* "I AGREE."

UPDATE: I am now addicted to Stardew Valley because of Leonie. -.-

This seems like such a good idea. I have been having trouble reading for fun ever since I started uni

When you said “I just really hope I don’t fall asleep” I felt that.

I think the key is to turn off / sleep all electronic devices because they are easy distractions. I also quite like a rule that Andy Miller, of the fantastic reading podcast Backlisted, applied which is that consistency is what matters. He set himself a 50 page/day target on any book he was reading and, as he says if you can read 50 pages a day eventually you'll get through any book and 50 pages was a realistic amount. You could set a different number depending on reading speed but the key was consistency. Sometimes on Booktube, you get the impression that it is the number of books you read that is the important thing as opposed to the joy you get from the reading.

I’ve been reading a book every night before bed for months now, and at first I expected that I would fall asleep within the first 30 minutes. But it turns out I can’t stop and I read for 2 hours- 🤓🤦‍♀️. I swear guys, I wanna know if I’m alone in this??🥴

I started doing this, i have a book i read at night i sometimes put a 30 min timer so i dont get distracted but other times i just read a couple of pages and thats it. The goal is to read everyday it doesnt matter how much. I usually pick a book that is either long, with slow pace or really hard to read that helps me proces the book spend time with it or not get frustated with it. Right now is lord of the rings and god it does fit in those categories hahaha
I most of the times i have another book i read during the day that is easier or faster pace.

The aesthetics of this video!? CHEFS KISS 🔥
The night circus is one of my favorite reads; it’s been so long so I’m curious to see if it’ll still hold up for a second rereads 👀

I was also in a reading slump for the beginning of this year, but near the end of feb i started reading and enjoying it again and i've already read three books and reading two books currently, which is usual for me as a slow reader !

I’ve been doing something similar! Since starting uni I’ve been staying in my room on zoom classes and doing homework, so everyday I go on a 2+ mile walk and listen to an audiobook. It usually takes about an hour and combines reading and exercise!

I’ve really been struggling with this as a very busy and often overwhelmed veterinary student. I don’t think an hour is always feasible but this has inspired me to aim for 30 minutes on Week days and 1 hour on weekends!!!

One of my new year's resolutions was to read everyday for 10 minutes and it's honestly helped me so much. Sometimes I only have the time/energy/desire to read for 10 minutes but sometimes I get so engrossed in a book that I read more.

I usually wake up one hour before I HAVE to wake up (and I usually curse myself at first, but I always know that it's gonna make me feel great later) to get a breakfast ready and just read as focused as I can in the first moment of the day. Sometimes I can really read some good amount after lunch, but I always fall asleep and take a nap before having to go on my second round of study lol. I also like to read before bed to relax and finish my day with a good feeling, but it's not as productive as in the morning since I also end up sleeping... but still, they are my favorite moments of the day.

I always tell myself I'm going to read for 30 minutes each day and then I forget I have 2 jobs, so I read for like 8 hours over the weekend.

Also I'm going to try doing that because I have been in a reading slump for like a year sadly

I just started watching and I’m already proud of you 😂 Since February, I’ve been having a lot of trouble finishing books that I’ve started bc my reading mood keeps switching. I’ve started 15+ books and I really gotta hunker down and just finish one already
