Chopping with Ochsenkopf Axes

Testing out the ochsenkopf itlis canada, Harzer, Berliner and Bavarian pattern axes.
Wood is fresh sycamore

Do you know when the double bit ochsenkopf was introduced? Is there any patent or article, anything really about it? The most interesting is obviously the blade for me, all the rest is just standard today. The only thing i could find about such a hollow grind is patent US910763A (and of course the super tuatahi grind links/pics)

just modified an Ochsenkopf Iltis Canada i've had for 2 years that i bought for £12 at a Game fair, went from being one of my most neglected and unused axes with a thick handle and crappy edge profile To being one of my favourites just by spending a couple hours reprofiling the edge back to a decent Scandi flat grind and then an hour thinning the handle and then removing the paint on the handle in favour for a burnt smooth handle, 27 1/2" around 3 1/2lb total weight . I'm intrigued to hear your opinions on burn handles regarding strength gains/loss to the handle. Buckin' Bill loves them, i've never liked them much but started blacked palm swells/the first 20% of the handle burned. I also did a similar Mod on a Council Tool 28" hudson bay, Result was great! Turned into a good all-rounder.

Nice review. Love all of those axes. Particularly interested in the narrow bit one, is that the Berliner ? Puzzled though cause I cant find it on any site ?

2:00 Does only 1 blade have this feature? Is the other blade the exact copy or is it thicker?
Does the Iltis Canada have this aswell?

what do you think of the double bits handle? very temped to buy one but would like a second opinion. Also do you have an instagram for your channel?
