I know pretty much all music sounds better when you're stoned, but man this sounds sublime when you're stoned! Lyrically a conventional rock ballad about falling in love, but that haunting, almost melancholic keyboard - washing over a sad, plodding bassline - gives it a bittersweet feel, as if this romance is already doomed, and the singer knows (perhaps from bitter experience) there will be pain ahead.

My favorite song by them, it will forever hold a special place in my heart! I listened to this song 10+ times a day in 2016, was going through some crazy stuff in life, my beautiful orange kitty named Doug was my emotional support. He never left my side, he was ALWAYS there for me no matter what, and he still is! He falls asleep with my husband and I every night. This song and Everlasting Light have been dedicated to my sweet Doug, I will forever think of him ❤️

My boyfriend and I are big fans of The Black Keys. While I was driving to his law school graduation, I decided that after all of the celebrating was done and we were alone, I was going to turn this song and dance with him. It’s one of my favorite memories from his apartment. He recently planned a photo session for us and I’m going to surprise him by us dancing to it again during the session.

Update: The photo session got rained out and instead he planned the most romantic dinner with decorations and completely homemade spaghetti. We danced. He proposed. I said yes.

Update Two: We eloped two weeks ago. This is still "our song" and my favorite one to dance to.

This song came to me when i was at the very bottom of my life. I was homeless, consumed by shadow and fire, long hair and a skinny body. I recall i cried on a local bar, drinking up the money my poor had sended me. This song was at repeat the whole night.

Now many years later i am gratuated and work with homeless addicts, i got a extremely fit body, iam new in many ways and this summerday i listen on it again.

Somehow it all makes sense ;)
