Unlike in South Africa where elections are staggered, in Kenya, voters all make their mark on the same day. Campaigning has already started in the East African nation, ahead of General Elections in August 2022. President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to retire and has not yet named a successor. But it appears he will throw his weight behind opposition politician Raila Odinga, snubbing his two-term deputy, William Ruto. We're now joined by Sarah Kimani from Nairobi.

I am a Kenyan and I do not want our politics to be like that of South Africa or Tanzania. In Tanzania and South Africa, only one party ANC and CCM have been dominant since independence. In Kenya, the independence party of KANU died in the year 2002 with the exit of dictator Moi. Since then, Kenya has enjoyed a lot of democratic progress and freedoms especially with the new constitution. The same cannot be said about South Africa and Tanzania. That is why I do not want anything to change in the way we vote as Kenyans.
