It is possible that the “pick me girls” are actually girls who as a child were made fun of for being “girly” and liking pink and dresses. Maybe they heard all the time that girls who act like tom boys are good and girls who act feminine were shallow. This is how I saw it. I never wanted to be viewed as shallow or stuck up so I complained about dresses and never used makeup or did my hair.
Now I’m leaning into it. Girly things, makeup, bows, pink, shopping, frills, looking pretty. I love it all! And I feel so much better not hating on something I thought I was supposed to hate.
