This video is actually a subtle reference to one of Man’s most influential pieces in his catalog, “pausing the video because the text is shown too quickly and you don't have time to read it”. Truly a master of his craft

“I know writers who use subtext. They’re all cowards.”

I remember one time I was walking in my kitchen and my mom told me “as you know, your father, Brian, who lost his leg during his 13 years of military combat and now owns an antique shop has difficulty carrying heavy objects, therefore, as always on Sundays afternoons, please help him carry the groceries” and then she did a little backflip

i read the video title as “good vs bad explosion” and now i’m kinda disappointed that this video isn’t about good and bad explosions

"As you know... Actually, since you already know it I'm not going to explain it."

My favorite film rule: tell, don’t show.

This reminds me of the time Man was researching spiders in the Amazon before he died

“My brother died. It wasn’t even remotely my fault.” As you know, that’s a completely normal, not at all suspicious way to phrase that.

One thing that always annoys me is a character just about to explain something vital but is interrupted and apparently just never tries to re-explain it:

Aspiring Hero: "Why does my mother's locket always glow when I am in danger."

Wise Mentor: "Well you see young hero at the dawn of the third age of humanity, 7 celestial warriors came to our planet in order to..."

Chef: "Alright food is ready. "

Wise Mentor: "Great, anyway hero we will pick this up conversation back up in a few hundred pages well after the knowledge would have been helpful."

Reminds me of that “It’s Always Sunny” bit where Mac says that he needs everything to be constantly and thoroughly explained to him in movies or else he has no idea what’s going on.

With great responsibility comes great exposition

The best way to experience a story is to have no idea whats going on at any point in the story. Everyone doesn't know that.

Man, we’ve been Carrying Thing together for the past 15 years. We met each other in high school chemistry class. You could say we had chemistry with each other, we’ve been Carrying Thing ever since

my favorite dialogue is when a character starts a sentence with "as you know" and then proceeds with a lengthy explanation of something they're aware the other character already knows

that first point is the best point - it always annoys me when people are like "no time to explain" in movies, then spend like. . . 10 minutes hanging around doing nothing while they could've been explaining stuff

I hate having to think to like things, that's why exclusively like comments with the words "the absolute legend" and "he never misses"!

I wonder how the planning characters feel every time the main character says “so tell me again what the plan is” and they have to say it all over again for the audience

It's such a shame that every movie protagonist suffers with a horrific condition that completely erases their memory every 90 minutes.

“There’s no time to explain”

“dude just give me the main concepts in 15 seconds, I’ll pick the rest up”
