Sawdust Burning Stove | Experimenting with Fuel Mixtures

Показать описание
Basically it’s has an air intake in the bottom and the sawdust or chips are compacted around a pipe then the pipe is removed which creates airflow while still slowing down the burn process. Our little stove heats for 2-3 hours without adding fuel after the initial compaction.

Very cool. You should try compressing the sawdust into pellets or logs

You can make pretty good money form it if u boil it and bag jt then sell it to mushroom growers

If you don't make it into pellets woth a press you can soak it down with water and make it into a pump and then pour it into logs/bricks and once they dry they burn great.

Press the sawdust into small prill like pellets. The smaller the volume of the compressed unit of sawdust the larger the ratio is of its surface area to volume. It essentially lets more air or oxygen be available to start and keep the burn going... Its not surprising that a bunch of sawdust pressed into one large chunk isn't going to want to burn

You need to build a stove
You can start with

55 gal drum with removable cover
You’d have to fabricate the cover so it overlaps let say 3”
Drum should stay let say 8” off the ground on 3 or 4 “legs” 3 usually better for stability
On the bottom in the center 3-4” hole
Under the hole ash collector drawer

Second barrel has to be 1” smaller in diameter than main one
So you’d have to fabricate it but no cover needed, just a heavy swinging wire handle across so it drops to the side when you put smaller barrel inside in the main one
It also has to have let say 2”hole on the bottom in the center

Main barrel has to have exact pipe located let say 6” from the top on the side wall

Filling
Put 2” pipe in the second barrel and fill it with saw dust and press it / hit it with something like baseball bet every 6”
You can add layers of snow in between it will last longer and it’s kind of like thermostat :)
Once barrel is full and nicely pressed carefully remove pipe straight up
You’ll have a hole in the saw dust through to the bottom

Place small barrel in the main
Cover and light from the bottom drawer
No need to mix with oil at all

You could use a blower to blow the sawdust into a furnace. Like in a big coal fired power plant. That should work really well.

I use to have brick maker, that was used for compressing wet paper. [ref: innovations catalogue] You could add a bit of paraffin wax allow forty-eight hours or more to dry, voila paper bricks! Like wise for the saw dust.

Generate more heat to get the ignition like you were trying to light a solid piece of wood on fire.

Find a cardboard box then fill it tight into the box and close it. It will burn like a solid box of wood.

We make fire starters with it. I wish I had access to this much saw dust you can order wax for stupid cheap online boom fire logs or fire starters
