Charles Spencer, that's Princess Diana's brother. I didn't know he was an author.

She kinda looks like Suzannah Lipscomb. The hair, the way she dresses. Both lovely and great at what they do 😍

My question is under James how did he manage to rule day to day because even though there was a union between the English and Scottish crowns to my knowledge there wouldn’t be a official political settlement until the action of union under the Hanoverians. So basically he was king of two separate and independent states with separate courts and separate parliaments.

14::11 The irony of this is of course both Richard and Owen became the 2nd and 3rd Baronets respectively, but the eldest James predeceased their father. In addition, Owen's son Richard becomes the 4th Baronet.

In the Elizabethan era red hair was considered more beautiful than any other colour. Since I first discovered this rarely aesthetic mane and the fine brain beneath it I'm inclined to endorse that view. As for the occasional lapse into rhotacism which is certainly not an affectation I consider it endearing and a contributing factor to the sheer pleasure of listening to this utterly charming presenter who, if English history were as dead as certain other topics are - which it isn't - she would revivify it instantly by the fervour with which she shares her learning. .

James had, in fact, three children she survived into infancy. This guy forgot about the Queen of Bohemia.

Its always the english vs the scots. What was going on with the Welsh at this point? They seem to be silent when this era is discussed in history classes

Her lisp really adds to the narration, at times it's distracting but on the whole adds some texture to the story
