So we have the technology to have robots save soldiers but my Rumba can’t even sweep a floor correctly.

The first pic really made me think: “they’re gonna do that for fun. Just letting themselves dragged around in circles by that thing”

“I always volunteered to get dragged by it”
That had me laughing 😂😂😂

Side note: the US Navy does buy XBox controllers. Why? Submarine periscopes. Obviously those are both digital and motorized these days, and the original controls and control software was very much not user friendly. But as it turns out, a video game controller is extremely intuitive and easy for just about anyone to use. And these days, you'd be hard pressed to find someone in the military who has never used a video game controller.

I’ve gotten to drive this thing before, and if I remember correctly, I was using something that resembled a PS4 controller.

I used our talon robot to steal wrenches from the mechanics or to bring them the proper tool they needed. It was good practice I got to the point where I could pick up a quarter.

I remember in the late 2000s either it was the aslav or bushmaster the turret operates like a ps gaming control, so the operator is not exposed to enemies fire

Yes! We had water bombs we’d use in Iraq 2004. They’d blow up under the car and the water would just cut and tear up all the cords wires and everything under the car. Totally wrecks the car. Only seen it done twice. Crazy times back then. Actually threw a hand grenade in a chest freezer over there. Wild stuff.

I love the talon! We would drive ours around the motorpool and grab peoples boots with it along the rubber trim, since it could crush their toes if you grabbed the front lol, thing has like 200 lbs of grip force

The only toy we had when I was an engineer was a stick of C4

It may be used as a discrete shoplifter

I mean, if you really want to buy army surplus stuff, go ahead. The more technically intricate it is, the more chance it's going to break down.

Someone commented they used to practice driving one by stealing wrenches from the mechanics and I have the image of a Talon fleeing from a garage holding a 10mm socket and being chased by the mechanics in my head. I can't stop giggling.
